We're on green alert, i hope we'll never be red n black alert... so scary to even think about it. I was not here during SARS, was a final year student, suppose to be attached to KKH for paediatrics posting but bcos of SARS, we had to skip the entire posting n stay at home... yeah....

Swine flu

My hospital preparing for the Swine Influenza Virus (SIV) got a shock when i went down for break.... did not know the situation was so serious. Scary, remind me of SARS days...

What:

• Common respiratory ailment in pigs that dun usually spread to humans.
• This strain is a subtype never seen before in humans n pigs.
• When pigs get this flu they get very sick and up to 4% dies.
• In the past, people get this flu if they worked directly with pigs.
• However this strain unlike most cases of swine flu can spread from person to person.
• The genetic makeup of the virus is that of pigs, bird n humans.
• This may be the case: pigs caught a strain of the bird flu->virus mutate inside the pig-> which allow the virus to spread too humans.
  

Swine flu from eating pork?

• No, pigs going to the slaughter are check for flu symptoms and those who are ill are not allow to enter.
• Cooking also kills the virus.
• However people working with pigs can catch the virus.

Symptoms:

• Fever
• Fatigue
• Lack of appetite
• Coughing
• Runny nose
• Sore throat
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
  

How can u protect yourself:

• Wash your hands frequently (7 steps)
• Wear surgical mask if u need to go a crowded place.
• N95 mask filters out 95% of particles if fitted properly around the nose creating a tight seal.

a tired looking me again.... Bf fetch me from work, went to eat at kallang KFC, then fetch joy n louis for supper at a roti prata place. Tmr working om then stright to school... oh my... not enough sleep, but i dun have regrets taking up the course, think when i'm young i must get as many certs, then when i'm a mummy n older i can jus look after my kids. i wanna collect more certs now, when i told this to my ward nursing manager, she says, what collect more certs? get your marriage cert la!... :) oh well... anyway, when i complete my advance diploma, next step... Masters in nursing... anyone wanna join me?

Go for the Citibank 1 for 1 it's really cheap, we had 2 soup (1-4-1 ), seafood platter for 2, n deserts (1-4-1). Bill came up to $56.. anyway this time was darling treating, so i can order wat i wanted...

the first platter which was not up to standard, fries was cold... asked for a change. If u compare the same platter from paragon, that one had scallops, n bigger prawns, anyway, the menu is also different at different outlets.

2nd platter, much better..
