NURSING PAYS PEANUTS...So... we had a very heated discussion in class today about our miserable pay. It's pathetic right, i have been working for 5 years n with a Degree in Nursing n with an Advance Diploma in Critical Care n i'm taking a 2nd Advance Diploma in Nursing management n pay is only around 2k... sigh... ;/ I dun wanna compare with the olden days, 30 years ago when nurses were only paid $290... it's super silly n pointless to do that, i'm comparing with other jobs, entering with a Degree, how much do u get? around $3300? starting pay? Wanna know how much my starting pay was, $1500!! wa lao... CMI.. Do u know how much extra i'm paid after getting my Degree? $100... After Crit care adv dip? ya another $100... n the worst thing is that in this scheme, the cap for it is $200( up to 2 certs) !! So i've maxed out my 2 Certs already... Great!! Someone help me!!! So much for a learning is continuous n lifelong rite... when i'm not even recognised for my efforts in continuing education...
So i've thought of some options for myself :
- Flight nurse/ Flight nurse coordinator (pay $5000)
- Off shore Oil n Gas companies (pay $5000-6000)
- Go overseas ($6000-$9000) yea... good choice... :)
- Air stewardness ( dream job- but i've too many nursing certs n i'm too old) (pay >$5500)
- Nurse manager (Don't think much of this, i wan 2 get out of e ward!!) (pay $4500-$6000)
- Director of Nursing (pay >$8000?)
- Help out BF mum's medicine company (pay $???)
I can't think of anything else... all i know is that i'm going to run when i have the opportunity to... yea... thats the plan... get the experience first... think i need to go back to adult ICU... yes? well, here's some job recruits websites for those who r as ambitous as i am... or 4 whatever reason...
